6 Beauty Products I use for My morning Routine

Kitao Matcha + Chia Cleanser $25

Truth be told, I don’t always wash my face in the morning. Sometimes I wake up I find that my skin is perfectly neutral — not too oily, not too dry —and still clean from the previous evening’s diligent double cleanse. I also use silk pillowcases from Amazon, so I can be sure that my skin doesn’t absorb any gross bacteria overnight. In the summer, however, when I sweat in the night, a morning wash is occasionally necessary. And no one gets the job done like this Kitao Matcha + Chia Cleanser (I don’t use it in the evening because it’s not the best at getting makeup off). But in the morning, it instantly washes off all that gross sweat and grime, and is also insanely hydrating, soothing, and gentle on my skin.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner $12

Yes, I use this incredible, perfect toner again in the morning as well. I like using this in the morning, as well, because it prepares my skin well for the rest of my routine.

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence $21

Another repeat from the evening. I use this plumping, brightening, wound-healing essence twice a day because my skin responds so well to the ingredients that it’s really a the-more-the-better situation. It has stolen my heart.

Timeless Skin Care 30% Vitamin C $18

I am a firm believer that almost every person — barring those who are allergic or sensitive to vitamin C— could benefit from incorporating a good vitamin C serum into their routine. It’s a brightening wonder ingredient that also works to boost collagen. I truly haven’t found anything better. It’s also, as you may know, one of my favorite dupes for the Drunk Elephant Vita C (which I love because it has a mega-high concentration of vitamin C, but is still gentle on the skin). This Timeless version has a whopping 20 percent of vitamin C, so you will really start to see a difference in the radiance and luminosity of your skin within just a few weeks of regular use. I squeeze about three to four drops of this stuff into my palm and press it all over my skin, focusing on areas where I suffer from dark marks.

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun SPF $11

In case you guys have somehow missed the millions of times I’ve raved about this product: this centella asitica and hyaluronic acid–infused, soothing, moisturizing sunscreen really is the best I’ve ever used. It’s so hydrating that in the hot, humid summer I actually use this SPF as my daytime moisturizer. It’s perfect.

Solid & Striped All-Over Sunscreen $28

Then I cover the rest of my body in SPF. Generally I use my Everyday from Supergoop!, but recently I’ve really been loving this sunscreen from Solid and Striped. It’s lightweight, fast-absorbing, and doesn’t leave a white cast. I lather my body in it before stepping out into the scary 90-degree summer heat.

Did You Know? There are 6 Ways to Recycle Old Beauty Products

Going green doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your favorite beauty products. In fact, there are more ways to reduce your carbon footprint than ever before as brands are now offering their own recycling programs, opting for plastic-free packaging, and more.

So, I’ve done some research and here are six brands that will help you be more conscious of the environment.

lilah b.
Before you toss old makeup in the trash, turn to makeup brand lilah b. to help you sustainably declutter your beauty cabinet. All you have to do is email declutter@lilahbeauty.com for a prepaid return shipping label, and lilah b. will take care of the rest. Easy peasy, right?

Le Labo
What’s more eco-friendly than recycling a product? Reusing it. Iconic fragrance house Le Labo offers an in-house refill service where you can bring in your empty bottles and get a refill for 20% off the original price.

Did you know that face wash, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are the most commonly used plastic beauty products? While you can recycle your empty plastic bottles with other household plastic items, we recommend taking advantage of Kiehl’s recycling program. For every empty container you bring in, you receive one stamp. Collect 10 stamps and you can exchange it for a travel-size product.

Nail polish bottles are one of the hardest things to properly recycle because of its complex formulas. Thanks to Côte, you simply have to bring in your old bottles to any Côte shop and you’ll receive 10% off your next purchase.

The hair care brand teamed up with recycling service provider g2 revolution to make recycling Aveda products easier for its customers. Just stop by one of Aveda’s stores and Aveda will ensure everything is properly recycled, reused, or burned for energy recovery.

Garnier x TerraCycle
You can send old skin, hair, and cosmetic packaging to TerraCycle at no cost. In return, you’ll receive TerraCycle points, which can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts, product bundles, or a payment of one cent per point to a nonprofit organization or school of your choice.

The Best Lip Balms I Have Ever Tried (Treat Beauty)

I usually don’t carry around a bunch of lip balm, (I know, I know), but there is just one brand that I’ve become crazy about. I would classify as a necessary winter, fall, spring and summer splurge: these jumbo size shiny, sugary stuff is the out of this world. In the constant rotation of items jangling in my pockets, it always makes the cut. Here are just a few of these amazing scented, tasty lip balms.

While we’re all secretly kids at heart and still feel our heart fluttering in excitement at the prospect of balloons and presents on our birthday.
There’s nothing quite like that first coffee of the day, whether you’re a non-fat latte person or prefer a double long espresso.
Magical candy flavored multi-tasking color balm for lips, cheeks and eyelids
for a sheer wash of delicious iridescent color that will make you look and taste good enough to est.
As kids we were drawn in by the trio of delightful colors of traditional rainbow sherbet ice-cream, until our first lick where we could link each bright color to a flavor.
No matter how hard life may get, there’s always cake, and oh boy, are we grateful for that! We adore fluffy white sponge cakes dripping in layers of thick, creamy buttercream frosting, but sometimes we need a little more.
If you like Piña Coladas or getting caught in the rain, then this sweet cocktail of a lip balm is definitely for you! Picture yourself on a white sandy beach with turquoise water lapping at your feet as you sink your toes into the surf.
I’m always looking for recipes that make my customers swoon, and Better Than Sex Cake just topped the list! If you’ve never experienced the pleasure, let me tell you how decadent it tastes!
For all you sweet ladies who like to keep it classic, this yummy cotton candy balm with a subtle nude pink shade is sure to become your new favorite treat.
What smells and tastes like a s’more and can be used all over? Our Marshmallow “Anywhere” Jumbo Moisture Stick of course! Busy ladies deserve multi-purpose products that smell like a dream, are free from harmful chemicals and deliver on their promises and we know you won’t be disappointed with this one!
“You look beautiful,” your dad proudly exclaims as the makeup artist adds the finishing touches to your look. “Thanks dad,” you manage to get out, grateful for the waterproof mascara to stop your tears from ruining your makeup.
You’re almost completely packed up and ready to go on your annual family camping trip, but you feel like you’re forgetting something. You’ve got the graham crackers, the creamy slabs of milk chocolate, so what could it be?
What do you do when your lips are dry and flaky and in serious need of a drink? Sure, you could apply one of our decadent balms, but don’t even think about applying our balms before indulging in one of our lip scrubs first!
One whiff of vanilla and you’re instantly wrapped in a soothing cocoon of comfort. Vivid memories emerge, conjured up from your childhood, of licking rich, creamy vanilla buttercream frosting straight out of the bowl while mom goes to work whipping up your favorite sweet treats.
Did you know that angel food cake has long been regarded as “food of the angels” due to its light and fluffy texture? Well, this balm sure does it justice!
There’s something oh so romantic about cherries. Think back to those days you sipped your cherry soda while cheekily fluttering your eyelashes at your crush.
You sigh in pure bliss as you turn over to tan your back and revel in the glorious summer rays. You find yourself getting a little thirsty, but sigh in disappointment when all you see is your trusty water bottle at your side.

These Are My 8 Favorite Tatcha Products

If you’ve watched my instagram stories, you probably know that I hold the Tatcha skin-care line dear to my heart. During some of my most brutal skin phases, Tatcha products have single-handedly saved my complexion from bad breakouts, dullness, and dryness. What I love about Tatcha is that while the products are incredibly effective, they’re equally gentle — you get results without harsh chemicals or skin irritation.

Of course, there’s a downside: Tatcha’s goods can be a bit on the pricey side. Their Indigo Cream may have made my dry skin, supple and soft last winter, but paying $85 to re-up became unsustainable. And while the Silk Primer rid me of my fear of primers (they usually make me break out and this one decidedly did not), 0.7 ounces of it will cost you a shocking $52. Are you upset? Remember a little goes a long way. Are you ready for some good news? Here it is: Tatcha products are sold on Poshmark brand new, you can bargain with the seller. If you’re overwhelmed or curious where to start, I’m here to help. Here’s a list of my favorite Tatcha products, all of which are so good, they could each be a holy grail of mine and be found on the site. Unless, of course you want to purchase directly from the website.

Tatcha Indigo Recovery Cream

Tatcha Indigo Recovery Cream $85.00

This is one of the best moisturizers I have ever used. It’s very rich, but it absorbs into the skin very quickly so it doesn’t leave you feeling greasy or sticky. The product’s blend of oatmeal and Japanese indigo is calming and reparative, and has helped me calm redness from sun exposure. For anyone with dry, acne prone skin, this is a must-try.

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist $48

When it comes to face mists, this one is the one to try. On rushed, no makeup mornings, I sometimes use this as the only step in my routine: A few spritzes on clean skin provides nourishment and moisture, and makes my face look super-bright and dewy. On full-on glam makeup days, I use this before applying my makeup and as my final, makeup-setting step. It makes everything melt into my skin and gives a perfect, flawless finish.

Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer

Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer $44

I wrote a full-length review of this product, so if you want the nitty-gritty, read it. But very long story short, this is one of the only primers I’m willing to use. Not only does this never, ever make me breakout, it also keeps my makeup looking frighteningly fresh and flawless — like I’ve just applied it — all day long.

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Revitalizing Eye Mask

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Revitalizing Eye Mask $12

These ultra gentle but effective masks are perfect for anyone who wants to treat their under eyes, but happens to have sensitive under-eye skin. They have green tea, rice-bran oil, and red algae, all of which work to hydrate and brighten the skin around your eyes, and make you look more well rested and alert. They’re also great for prepping your under eyes for makeup — concealer glides on after using these guys. I like keeping them in my little beauty fridge; the cold tends to depuff my (famously serial-killer-esque) under eyes.

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen $65

If you’re looking for a great, everyday sunscreen this one is definitely worth buying. It absorbs super quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a white cast. Plus, after you apply, makeup glides on super easily on top of it. It also has a slight matte-ifying effect on the skin, so it won’t leave you looking greasy — which I think we all can agree is unique for an SPF.

Tatcha Camellia Goldspun Lip Balm

Tatcha Camellia Goldspun Lip Balm $30

This lip balm is not only the perfect gift (it has pretty gold flakes in it), it’s also really effective. Apparently Japanese female free-divers have used camellia oil (the main product in this balm) for thousands of years to protect their skin and hair from the salty ocean water. I can see why: this super-thick and creamy lip balm does a truly incredible job at soothing and healing chapped lips. It is probably my second favorite chapstick of all time, right after my beloved Bite Agave Lip Mask.

Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, Travel Size

Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil $48

While we’re talking camellia, I’m completely obsessed with this oil. It is a 2-in-1 makeup remover and cleanser of Camellia Oil gently melts away impurities, even waterproof makeup, leaving behind pure, silky soft skin. It doesn’t leave your skin oily and heavy. I like to use it as a cleanser and moisturizer at night.

Tatcha Rice Polish: Gentle

Tatcha Rice Polish: Gentle $65

This is a physical — not a chemical — exfoliant. Though it is technically a scrub, it is incredibly gentle — it contains rice bran and papa enzymes and transforms into a foam when you add water to it. Tatcha’s motto is, essentially, “doing small things for your skin every day will give you the best results” (instead of using super-intense chemical exfoliants, in other words). This product the definition of that ethos: It’ll never make your skin red and dry, and will make your skin noticeably smoother within just one use.

13 Best Dry Shampoos for Different Hair Types

Dry shampoo is a gift bestowed upon us from the beauty gods. It allows us to shampoo less and keeps our locks looking fresh even after the third (or fourth) day.

While it may be tempting to buy whatever dry shampoo is available at your local drugstore, it’s helpful to know that there usually is a specific dry shampoo match for every hair type. Finer hair types, for example, may not want to use a product that is extremely drying or detoxifying. Similarly, oily and thicker hair types may want to look for buildup-busting products that keep greasiness at bay.

Additionally, I suggests that the way you use your dry shampoo is equally important. Dry shampoo would typically be used on day two (or three) after a blowout or other fresh style. I would only spray the product on your roots in quick spurts and always spray from a distance. Doing so prevents the product from dulling your hair color.

To help you find the right dry shampoo product that is best suited for your needs, I’m sharing my favorite dry shampoos for common hair types below.

Coiled or Curly Hair

Suitable for coily and wavy hair types, this dry shampoo product can be used on fine, thick, and medium hair for an instant boost of freshness.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo $24

This volumizing dry shampoo is great for wavy, curly, and coily hair types because it uses micro-fine rice powders and golden root extract to treat your tresses and deliver volume.
DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo $23
Pump up your waves with this special texturizing product that lightly adds volume without leaving your hair dry or damaged.
Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher $19.99
Those of you blessed with tightly coiled hair should pack this dry shampoo in your purse or travel tote as it lightly cleans and deodorizes your tresses without weighing them down.

Tarte Hair Goals Dry Shampoo $19

Dry and Color-Treated Hair

Color-treated, dry, or damaged hair types should feel encouraged to use this dry shampoo for its lightweight formula that gently removes oil without drying out the hair and scalp.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo $45
Whether your hair is auburn, platinum, or pastel pink, you’ll love to know that this budget-friendly dry shampoo cleanses your locks while leaving your hair full of volume.
Love Beauty and Planet Volume and Bounty Juicy Grapefruit Dry Shampoo $8.99
Great for anyone looking for maximum volume and hold, this dry shampoo is perfect for both shorter and longer lengths.
Sachajuan Dry Powder Shampoo $35
This multitasking dry shampoo is suitable for those with keratin-treated tresses as it’s free of potentially damaging ingredients, such as sulfates and sodium chloride.

Tigi Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo $21.99
Formulated without ingredients like talc or aluminum, this dry shampoo provides your hair with immediate relief whenever you need it most.
amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo $25

Oily Hair

This dry shampoo is worth investing in if your hair tends to get greasy quickly – it normalizes oil production while also drawing out impurities.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo $24
This dry shampoo cuts styling time in half in the morning by absorbing excess oil and blending nicely into the hair.
Chi Dry Shampoo $19
This dry shampoo powder product can be a real godsend for those with oily hair. It gently sucks up any buildup and grease lingering on the roots.

Aveda shampure Dry Shampoo $31
Free of sulfates, gluten, and artificial colors, this coconut-scented dry shampoo is perfect for those with finer hair because its lightweight formula absorbs oil and sweat instantly.

Hask Coconut Dry Shampoo $7.99
