6 Beauty Products I use for My morning Routine

Kitao Matcha + Chia Cleanser $25

Truth be told, I don’t always wash my face in the morning. Sometimes I wake up I find that my skin is perfectly neutral — not too oily, not too dry —and still clean from the previous evening’s diligent double cleanse. I also use silk pillowcases from Amazon, so I can be sure that my skin doesn’t absorb any gross bacteria overnight. In the summer, however, when I sweat in the night, a morning wash is occasionally necessary. And no one gets the job done like this Kitao Matcha + Chia Cleanser (I don’t use it in the evening because it’s not the best at getting makeup off). But in the morning, it instantly washes off all that gross sweat and grime, and is also insanely hydrating, soothing, and gentle on my skin.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner $12

Yes, I use this incredible, perfect toner again in the morning as well. I like using this in the morning, as well, because it prepares my skin well for the rest of my routine.

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence $21

Another repeat from the evening. I use this plumping, brightening, wound-healing essence twice a day because my skin responds so well to the ingredients that it’s really a the-more-the-better situation. It has stolen my heart.

Timeless Skin Care 30% Vitamin C $18

I am a firm believer that almost every person — barring those who are allergic or sensitive to vitamin C— could benefit from incorporating a good vitamin C serum into their routine. It’s a brightening wonder ingredient that also works to boost collagen. I truly haven’t found anything better. It’s also, as you may know, one of my favorite dupes for the Drunk Elephant Vita C (which I love because it has a mega-high concentration of vitamin C, but is still gentle on the skin). This Timeless version has a whopping 20 percent of vitamin C, so you will really start to see a difference in the radiance and luminosity of your skin within just a few weeks of regular use. I squeeze about three to four drops of this stuff into my palm and press it all over my skin, focusing on areas where I suffer from dark marks.

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun SPF $11

In case you guys have somehow missed the millions of times I’ve raved about this product: this centella asitica and hyaluronic acid–infused, soothing, moisturizing sunscreen really is the best I’ve ever used. It’s so hydrating that in the hot, humid summer I actually use this SPF as my daytime moisturizer. It’s perfect.

Solid & Striped All-Over Sunscreen $28

Then I cover the rest of my body in SPF. Generally I use my Everyday from Supergoop!, but recently I’ve really been loving this sunscreen from Solid and Striped. It’s lightweight, fast-absorbing, and doesn’t leave a white cast. I lather my body in it before stepping out into the scary 90-degree summer heat.

Budgeting for Every Wedding You’re Attending This Year

It’s no secret that weddings can be pretty hard on the wallet. According to The Knot, the average American attends two weddings per year, and just being a guest can set you back nearly $300.

The cost of attending a wedding as a guest can totally vary based on lots of factors. Do you have to travel to attend? Will you be splitting a room or getting your own accommodations? Do you have something to wear?

Knowing how to budget your finances can help you be prepared and enjoy being a wedding guest without going broke. Not sure how to save? Check out the five foolproof budgeting tips below.

Make a list of essentials
Wedding guests should plan for the biggies first. This includes travel and accommodations, attire and accessories for the wedding, and a wedding gift. You should also consider any additional events you may be invited to, such as happy hours, brunch, and anything else leading up to the big day. Non-wedding related activities can easily add up to $100 or more.

Start saving ASAP
Chances are, you’ll know way ahead of time when a wedding is going to be. So if you really want to attend, start saving. I suggests starting a separate high-yield savings account for weddings and travel. It’s a good idea if you know you’re going to be spending a lot over the next year.

Don’t splurge
Think about what you value more – a comfortable place to stay or a new outfit? If you’re facing a pricey wedding with sky-high hotel or travel costs, now’s the time to wear an outfit you already own. This is especially helpful if you have multiple weddings coming up.

Utilize travel deals and credit card points
Make sure to utilize your resources. If you can score a free flight or discounts on a gift, you’ll feel better about attending and you won’t rack up debt.

Don’t be afraid to say “no”
If you can’t afford to stay at the same hotel as everyone else, that’s OK. If you can’t afford any gifts on their registry, give them a gift card instead with an amount that’s comfortable for you. Be smart and take care of yourself. Ultimately, it’s about celebrating the love of the couple, not a contest to show who will spend the most money on them.

Did You Know? There are 6 Ways to Recycle Old Beauty Products

Going green doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your favorite beauty products. In fact, there are more ways to reduce your carbon footprint than ever before as brands are now offering their own recycling programs, opting for plastic-free packaging, and more.

So, I’ve done some research and here are six brands that will help you be more conscious of the environment.

lilah b.
Before you toss old makeup in the trash, turn to makeup brand lilah b. to help you sustainably declutter your beauty cabinet. All you have to do is email declutter@lilahbeauty.com for a prepaid return shipping label, and lilah b. will take care of the rest. Easy peasy, right?

Le Labo
What’s more eco-friendly than recycling a product? Reusing it. Iconic fragrance house Le Labo offers an in-house refill service where you can bring in your empty bottles and get a refill for 20% off the original price.

Did you know that face wash, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are the most commonly used plastic beauty products? While you can recycle your empty plastic bottles with other household plastic items, we recommend taking advantage of Kiehl’s recycling program. For every empty container you bring in, you receive one stamp. Collect 10 stamps and you can exchange it for a travel-size product.

Nail polish bottles are one of the hardest things to properly recycle because of its complex formulas. Thanks to Côte, you simply have to bring in your old bottles to any Côte shop and you’ll receive 10% off your next purchase.

The hair care brand teamed up with recycling service provider g2 revolution to make recycling Aveda products easier for its customers. Just stop by one of Aveda’s stores and Aveda will ensure everything is properly recycled, reused, or burned for energy recovery.

Garnier x TerraCycle
You can send old skin, hair, and cosmetic packaging to TerraCycle at no cost. In return, you’ll receive TerraCycle points, which can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts, product bundles, or a payment of one cent per point to a nonprofit organization or school of your choice.

Might Be a Bad Idea Stalking Your Date on Social Media

You’re single, your friend meets someone she thinks you’d be compatible with, and the matchmaker story ensues. You’re going on a blind date. But will your blind date truly be blind? Because let’s be honest, you’re bound to Google search their social media accounts to find out “everything” you need to know before the first date.

While it’s nice to know what you’re getting into, I’m going to share five reasons why it might be better to keep it a mystery.

Appearance assumptions
It’s a 50-50 shot that the person looks like the pictures they’ve put online. You can get turned off by their looks or get disappointed if their looks don’t match their social media profiles. Keeping a blind date blind allows you to keep expectations at an appropriate level and let first impressions truly be first impressions.

Context limitations
Sometimes, you need to hear the whole story to understand. [Whether] your date’s been divorced or has a child, these are conversations that may require more explanation in person, and it’s all too easy to make snap judgments if social media reveals these intimate details before you can mentally prepare or hear them out.

Past vs. present
When stalking people on social media, there’s a tendency to look at things that happened many years ago and form a judgment. This judgment forgets the fact that people can change. When we make judgments of someone based on who they were, we start questioning the behavior they show in the present. Think about it – when’s the last time you changed your Facebook bio?

Curiosity and chemistry
The more you stay in a state of curiosity, the more your assumptions start drifting into the background, allowing you to really get to know the person. When you know too much about someone, There’s no natural discovery of interests, careers, friends, and interesting tidbits about them. It’s that discovery that can lead to authentic chemistry.

Staged interactions and adjusted behaviors
When we modify our behavior toward a person based on what we think we know about them. Throughout the date, whether you’re conscious of it or not, you’ll segue to the tidbits you learned about them [through social media.] You’ll also act in a way you think they’ll like you the best. In the end, hiding any part of yourself, even subconsciously, won’t allow your date to get to know the real you.

Playing it safe

Listen, it’s ok to want to investigate there is a lot of people that are of good and bad, or just simply not knowing if they are someone you would like to pursue. We’ve all been there in some point of our lives being introduced to someone who seems to be a great person until you get to know them. I remember a case on the news about a woman in Arizona was arrested and charged with stalking after allegedly sending tens of thousands of texts to a man she met online and breaking into his home. This is the kind of situation you would want to be cautious about. I recommend alway’s going on a double date to be safe and see how this person acts around others then maybe a one-one, making sure you let someone know where you are going and when you should be back. It’s a sure thing to always be safe.

Actually, How Often Should You Work Out?

Determining how often you should work out can get pretty tricky. While the Mayo Clinic recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week, or a combination of both, it ultimately depends on your overall health and goals.

So, no, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, but there are alternative ways to figure out how often you should exercise – through trial and error. Below, I’m sharing with you a step-by-step guide to help you determine how often you should work out.

Start slow and work your way up
To really find your baseline, you should start slow and keep increasing your workouts – both the duration and the intensity. Each week add more weights, time. A good rule of thumb is to start with two to three workouts per week and go from there. If you want to start with more, by all means, go for it. But make sure you don’t reach a point of burnout and run the risk of losing motivation and giving up altogether. Also, make sure you keep it exciting so it feels like fun and makes you happy. Plus, there’s no faster way to injure yourself than to go balls-to-the-walls with your workouts. You’re on a journey, so enjoy the ride!

Listen to your body
It’s definitely important to challenge yourself. After all, that’s a surefire way to get stronger and faster. But don’t do that at the expense of your health and body. Every athlete in the world will tell you that a key component of training is about listening to your body and adapting your program to deal with your challenges and ailments. Does your hamstring hurt? Take the day off and stretch. Do you feel like you’ll have a mental breakdown if you go to the gym tonight? Go for a walk around your neighborhood instead.

Don’t treat it like a chore
Again, maintaining a positive mentality is crucial to building up your workout routine. To maintain and improve upon a truly robust workout schedule, it’s important to keep your exercises fresh. If you ever get to a point where you feel like exercising is just checking off another box, consider switching something up. Ideally, you’ll get to a point where you’re looking forward to that release of energy every day.
