This is How I Make the Most of World Kindness Day

Guess what? It’s World Kindness Day, a worldwide movement that highlights good deeds, reminding us all to give back and be kind to one another. So in honor of the heartfelt event’s 20th anniversary, I’ve rounded up 10 easy ways you can pay kindness forward below.

Smile at a stranger
Yep, it’s that easy. From the people you pass by on the street to the store clerk, a smile can go a long way.

Plant a tree
Did you know that one large tree can supply a day’s supply of oxygen for four people? Gather your ladies and make this a weekend activity.

Volunteer or donate
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a perfectly planned effort. In fact, lending a hand can be as simple as helping your neighbor carry groceries or volunteering for a half hour at a local school. Can’t spare extra time today? Consider dropping a box of books at the local library or donating clothes you don’t wear anymore at a nearby church.

Try something new
Because you deserve kindness too.

Ditch your coffee cup
Going paperless might not seem like a big deal, but drinking your coffee at home or bringing it to the office in a portable mug is an easy way to show kindness to the planet.

Post positive notes
Put those sticky notes on your desk to good use by putting up kind quotes and reminders around your personal or shared space.

Leave a glowing review
Did you enjoy the food? Was the customer service helpful? Let the restaurant or store know by leaving a positive review.

Send an encouraging email
Do you have a friend or colleague who’s been struggling? Take a few minutes to compose an encouraging email.

Mail a card with the things you love about someone
Friends and family are at the heart of happiness. Choose someone you love and create a card that lists all of your favorite things about them.

Buy flowers
There’s nothing like receiving a bouquet of flowers to brighten someone’s day.
